Hello researchers!
I’ve been busy in my first few days off from teaching. I have posted a familiar picture that I took while traveling last weekend. I know you will know what it is, but what do you know about it? What is the story behind it? I encourage you to post the facts you find. Try it in your own words please!

Lady liberty sits on the harber of New York. She was put up in October 28 1886.the statue was a present of the people of france.
The Statue of Liberty was made in France. It took 21 boxes to carry her across the Atlantic Ocean. When she was put up, almost everyone in New York came to see her! When the person made it, he made it out of clay. The Statue of Liberty is clay. He started small. Then bigger. Then even bigger. He made it so big, the head was to big to fit in his workshop!
Thanks for the research you two. I appreciate the date r2d2droid. That is an interesting fact about the boxes zvarr. I am confused though. Are you saying that the statue is made of clay? If not, what is it made of? I noticed on my trip that she is green. I wonder why?
I knew that the statue of liverty was really caper before and there are three statue of liverty.
The statue of liberty was a gift from the people of France to the USA as a symbol of freedom.
The Statue of Liberty was a symbol of friendship from the people of France. It was dedicated on October 28th, 1886.
Thank you kyla and carlyevan for finding out why that statue is standing there. I did not know how old she is – good specific date. Mariah, can you check your post please because I’m not sure what you are saying she really was. You say there are three? Can anyone find out more information on that?
Have you been to New York?
She is green because… I don’t know. I think they glazed her. All I know is that Fredreic Rosevelt made her out of White Clay.
I see that you researched some more, zvarr, and came up with a name. I’m assuming that is the artist who designed her? Here’s a hint about why she is green. She is made of a certain kind of metal that changes color when exposed to the elements (water primarily). Try that as a starting point for your next bit of research!
